Our client is a leading open access publisher that produces innovative books, journals and online products. They are looking for an Acquisitions Editor to join their busy team in Central London to help grow their rapidly expanding journals portfolio.

You will be responsible for assessing new opportunities, for leading journal bids including writing proposals, leading negotiations with societies and editors and working with others in-house to develop new journals. You will be reactively acquiring content through looking into commercial opportunities.

Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are a prerequisite for developing ongoing relationships and negotiating competitive contracts with a variety of stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate commercial acumen, relevant editorial development experience within STM journal publishing and an ability to work independently. Those with previous commissioning and list management experience will have a distinct advantage. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the acquisitions process, and STM journal publishing experience. A degree in biomedical sciences would be beneficial, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must as you will be engaging with senior scientists. Knowledge of and interest in open access publishing would also be ideal and you will have strong project-management skills and the ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
