Our client is a leading open access publisher and produce innovative books, journals and online products. They are looking for a talented Executive Editor to join their busy team in Central London to develop the strategic development of their Genome journal.

Reporting in the Editorial Director, you will be responsible for driving the strategic development of the journal and ensuring that the high quality of the content is maintained and extended. Key responsibilities will include; developing and implementing a strategic plan for the journal, driving the commissioning programme to obtain reviews, mini-reviews, opinions etc, establishing and maintaining the policies for the submission of manuscripts and processes for peer review, identifying and commissioning new content from researchers, liaising closely with and overseeing the selection of Editorial Board Members to ensure that research areas are targeted and refreshed appropriately, managing a team of editors, acting as an ambassador for the journal, relationship building and attending relevant events to keep abreast of developments within the subject area and generating new ideas for content development.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience within medical or scientific journal publishing with a sound understanding of the peer review process and journal development. You must have first class communication, influencing and persuasion skills with demonstrable leadership ability and excellent organisational skills. You will have analytical skills and a driven motivated personality with a positive and enthusiastic approach towards journal publishing.
