Are you fluent in French and looking for an exciting new editorial role? If you have the required language skills and publishing experience, like a scholarly challenge and would enjoy being fully involved in one of the most prestigious research projects in French literature currently being undertaken in Britain, this opportunity could be perfect for you. A research department publishing specialist work on the French Enlightenment of the eighteenth century is looking to appoint an organised and efficient person to join their team as Publishing Editor. The Publishing Editor will take responsibility for the various stages of tracking, delivery, copyediting and publication of individual texts and volumes in the department’s prestigious series, working closely with academic authors/editors and a small team of in-house colleagues. Applicants must be able to demonstrate fluency in French (with either English or French as a mother tongue, and fluency in the second language), especially with regard to reading scholarly material, proof reading, and drafting letters. A degree and or research experience in Modern Languages, Literature or History would be a distinct advantage. Strong copy-editing skills are essential, as is the ability to write well, and an interest in and appreciation of sound grammar and good style in both English and French. Applicants will need good organizational and interpersonal skills, familiarity with standard IT packages and will work well as part of a small team.
