A prestigious global ELT publisher is looking to appoint a motivated and hardworking Managing Editor to research, plan, commission and develop profitable ELT projects for their secondary list for schools in Spain. This position is to be based in their Madrid office.

Reporting to the Publishing Director, Spain, the jobholder will play an important role in maintaining the success of the business. The job entails: identifying and evaluating publishing opportunities; working closely with the sales and marketing team in Spain and the UK to agree plans and win support for projects; carrying out market research; analysing and interpreting data; commissioning and developing new projects; managing a team of editors; and managing projects, including print and new media components, to ensure timely publication.

Strong communication (in English, and ideally in Spanish as well) and organizational skills are needed, along with strategic and commercial awareness. Applicants will need proven experience in educational publishing, including TEFL qualification or equivalent, as well as excellent people and project management skills. Knowledge of the Spanish market would be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to travel regularly between Spain and the UK to maintain contact with the sales and marketing team and ensure a strong market focus to the publishing.
