Are you highly computer-literate with a deep understanding of the current STM journal publishing processes? The publications arm of a leading independent scientific body in Central London is looking to appoint an E-Publishing Manager to develop and manage their online products and services, associated primarily with their STM Journals, as well as their publishing platform.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, the aim for the E-Publishing Manager is to develop a state of the art web-based publishing service to increase the user base and to promote an online, cross-disciplinary community. The role responsibilities include, amongst others: to recommend relevant content formatting, processing and development to the Production team in order to facilitate, improve and advance downstream-of-publication services and products; to periodically recommend and implement revisions in processes and procedures; and to be responsible for the successful development of an adaptable content model to allow for future, required semantic enrichment. This position will coordinate third-party vendors and internal staff to develop and maintain user-centric web services and electronic products. Overall, the role has responsibility for the functionality and effectiveness of the publishing platform, ensuring consistent performance across the sites.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of current journal initiatives and a good understanding of the core activities surrounding online journals and Open Access. The key attributes of the E-Publishing Manager will be leadership, project/budget/supplier management and communication skills alongside solid electronic publishing knowledge within the scientific journal publishing industry.
