Are you looking for a step up into a Publisher level role and have an interest in Psychology or Social Care? This Publisher role provides an ideal opportunity to build on list management experience and progress your career in an editorial role. Our client is looking to appoint an ambitious and motivated Journals Publisher to join their Behavioral Sciences team, overseeing the management and development of a portfolio of titles covering Psychology, Applied Psychology, Mental Health, Public and Allied Health and Social Care lists. The position will also require day-to-day management of members of the editorial team. This is a varied and demanding role, involving travel within the UK and internationally. Responsibilities include: * developing and driving acquisitions and commissioning tenders and bids for both subscription and open access journals, and contributing to strategic planning for the list; * providing leadership for the Editorial team in-house, as well as coordinating the efforts of more junior staff in other UK and international offices; * journal contract renewal; * building and sustaining excellent working relationships with external clients, academic editors, and society officers and internal colleagues; * financial planning and management, including preparing financial projections; * organic portfolio growth; * making presentations at editorial board and society business meetings; * conference attendance; * and representing the company publicly at a senior level to maintain and grow their business and promote their reputation. Candidates will ideally be of graduate calibre (or equivalent) with significant experience in academic journal publishing. You must have energy and creative flair, sound commercial acumen, and excellent communication skills. Familiarity with the relevant subject areas is an advantage.
