Rights Manager
Salary: £38,000-£43,000 DOE
Location: London, hybrid working (3 days office based, 2 days WFH)
We're excited to be working with a highly regarded literary agency that is looking to appoint a Foreign Rights Manager to join its established and ambitious rights team.
This is a brilliant opportunity to work across a wide-ranging and commercially successful list with titles across both fiction and non-fiction, with a particular strength in genre-led, internationally appealing titles. The role offers real autonomy, exposure to major global markets and the chance to play a key role in maximising the international reach of a standout list.
The role
Working closely with agents, authors and international partners, you'll be responsible for the full foreign rights process, including:
·Managing and mentoring a Foreign Rights Executive
·Reading and submitting titles internationally, working closely with co-agents and scouts on both frontlist and backlist
·Negotiating and processing translation contracts
·Maintaining accurate records across contracts, databases and financial trackers
·Liaising with external partners to ensure timely invoicing and receipt of international income
·Sharing sales updates, bestseller news and contributing to regular international rights communications
·Playing a key role in major international book fairs, including preparing materials, scheduling meetings and attending fairs
·Supporting international publicity opportunities in collaboration with authors and agents
·Ensuring the smooth progression of titles through the foreign rights publication process
·Occasional international travel to visit key publishing partners
About you
You'll already be working in foreign rights, either within a literary agency or a publishing house, and will bring:
·Solid experience selling translation rights
·Confidence managing workloads, processes and people
·Strong commercial instincts and negotiation skills
·Excellent organisation, attention to detail and communication
·A genuine enthusiasm for books and international publishing
