Operations Executive (12Month Contract)

Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 per annum
A brilliant independent publisher with a long history of bold, thoughtprovoking political books is seeking a highly organised and detaildriven Operations Executive to join the team for a 12month contract. This is a newly created role designed to support the accuracy, organisation, and flow of data across the company's systems as the publishing list and operations continue to grow.
The Role
You'll work across departments to ensure that publishing data (metadata, digital files, contracts, and more) is accurate, consistent, and wellmanaged across internal systems and external platforms. Reporting to the Head of IT and working closely with a Data Analyst, you'll help shape new processes and keep the operational engine running smoothly.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in a busy environment, enjoys variety, and wants broad exposure across the publishing workflow. You'll collaborate with production on print and ebook files, finance and editorial on author contracts, and sales and marketing on catalogue data and website updates.
Key Responsibilities
·Clean, consolidate, and create metadata for new and existing titles
·Upload metadata into the title management system (Stison)
·Ingest print and ebook files into internal systems and support distribution to retailers and distributors
·Work with Production to create new digital and print files
·Update key accounts including the company website and Amazon
·Upload and organise sales reports
·Support the royalties team by scanning and maintaining contract and author data
·Assist with stock management, transfers, and reprints
·Respond to ad hoc operational queries and requests
What You'll Bring
·Strong MS Office experience, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning)
·Experience working with databases, ideally within publishing
·Excellent organisation, time management, and attention to detail
·A proactive, friendly, and clear communication style
·Ability to balance urgent tasks with routine responsibilities
·Confidence working with colleagues across multiple teams
·Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn
