An Inspired Search Case Study

Assignment

A leading professional institute required a new Country Manager for China, based in Beijing, and retained Inspired Search to conduct the search for the individual. This particular client needed to hire someone to develop strategic and operational plans for the operation in China in conjunction with UK strategy team. Local knowledge combined with global experience was key for this hire and so we needed to find someone with a strong network in China, international experience, leadership skills and knowledge of legal / compliance issues.

Solution

Inspired Search conducted a full executive search process, researching the talent market in China across the TIC sector, membership bodies, publishers, corporates, B2B content and information providers and vendors to the publishing industry. Owing to the sensitive nature of the search, this was a covert headhunting process, without advertising.

This breadth of search identified 150 profiles, c. 45 were approached and screened for appetite to move and competency for the role. Following in-depth interviews with the longlist, Inspired Search presented a shortlist of 6, all of which were interviewed and three taken forward.

Result

Through in-depth research, widening the original remit of the search, Inspired Search secured the desired candidate and feedback from both the client and the candidate was the process was very well handled and smooth. This is the second time that the client has used Inspired Search in the China market with excellent results both times.
